GOLF IN AUSTRALIA
FINAL FOR AMATEUR TITLE M‘KAY DEFEATS APPERLY SYDNEY, October 18. (Received Oct. 18, at 10 p.m.) Playing a steady game up to the greens and putting more accurately, the 2G-year-old MTvay somewhat easily defeated the 45-year-old Apperly 5 and 4 in the amateur golf final. This is the first time that M‘Kay has played in an Australian final. Apperly, who won the title in 1920, failed to reproduce yesterday’s form. The professional final will be played to-morrow.
CENTENARY TOURNAMENTS LOS ANGELES, October 17. The professional golfers, Paul Runyan, Craig Wood, Densmore Shute, Harry Cooper, Leo Diegel, K. Y. Laffoon, and Jimmy Thomson, embarked today aboard the Mariposa to participate in* the Melbourne' centenary tournaments. They will stop en route for exhibition matches at Honolulu.
