' REUNION OF EX-PUPILS. ' Tie seventy-fourth anniversary of the Old Stone -rt Union. Normal School was: celebrated last-evenlßg, when about 80 ex-pUpils sat 'down .to dinner ’’ in the Tudor ' Hall, ‘ the chair being occupied by Mr W. J. v Strong. 1 At the Conclusion of the dinner the scene of activities was to the Homer- > set Lounge,-where the annual serial-was held.' "■:■' ‘ V ; :. '’ , ’ The chairman extended a welcome .to " all ex-pupils of the old school, of which they were all very proud, attd said that in past years many of ' the pupils had filled: prominent, positions throughout a New Zealand. They were particularly ’7 glad to, have with , them that , evening Professor D. 6. White, who had taught in 'the school in 1874, and who' was -the first professor of education appointed T south of the/line. Mr Strong also, extended a welcome to Mr J. Wallace, the chairman of the Otago ■ Education : Board, Mr P. G. Stewart and Mr Sproat, two former headmasters of the school, .. and to Mr Fleming, the present head. An enjoyable social evening was then held, songs and other items being interspersed with novelty numbers and competitions. . After a .round game,-, which t put everyone in the best of good humours, an amusihgi-•*? Chalk Talk,” embodying some clever .sketching, : was ; given by Mr J. H. Oliver.. Mi’s Scott contributed a vocal solo, and.recitations ; were provided by Miss W. Dyer and ’ Mr Fleming.; The; community, items, which included a dumb show, a story telling competition and a stump speech for ladies, provided 7agreat; deal' :of amusement. , The pianoforte accompani-* ments were played by Mrs Alfred Walihs- ■ ley. * 7 (7-; '
