CHRISTIAN BROTHERS’ CLUB ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Christian Brothers Old Boys’ Cricket Club wa* held in the Hibernian Social Clubs rooms last evening, Mr H. O Reilly presiding over a good attendance of members- , „ Moving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet, the chairman commented on the club’s. acquisition of Tonga Park, and said that the club would be required to find extra finance for this ground during the coming season. Further expense would also be incurred by the purchase of the new material necessary, and he urged members to give the ’ executive all the support they could financially, , • Mr A, J. Dowling seconded the motion, and congratulated the club on its financial position. Since the club bad gained senior status the. executive had worked very hard to further its interests. Mr J. H. A! MThee also congratulated the club on having a credit balance at a time when so many clubs were indifficulties. He said he was pleased to see that the club was going to a new ground, and thought that this move would help _to foster the club spirit as well as to improve the play of the members. The report was adopted. Mr W. Strang’s trophies vvere_ presented to W, M'Carten for the highest score during the season, and to T. Rodgerson for the best batting average. On the motion of the chairman, it wag decided to record a minute of appreciation of Mr Strang’s generosity ih presenting the trophies. The following office-bearers were elected for the ensuing year:—Patron. Bishop Whyte; president, Mr H. O’Reilly; vice-presidents—Father Tylee. Brother Carthy, Mrs A. Blaney, Messrs G. Donnelly, M. H. M'Carten; deputy captain, Mr T. Rodgereon; committee—Messrs F. Dawson, F. Toomey, W. Brookes, J. O’Reilly, W. Dawkins, T. Direen, M. Ryan, S. Wallace, R. M'Clintock, and M. Hayes; delegates to the Otago Cricket Association—Messrs W. Brookes, H. O’Reilly, and J. H. A. MThee; Selection Committee —Messrs Dawson, Toomey, and M'Cartei}. Opening day was fixed) for October 6. to be held in conjunction with the Dunedin Cricket ‘ Club’s opening. LEITH FORESTERS’ CLUB. The tenth annual general meeting of the Pride of the Leith Foresters’ Cricket, Club was held on Monday. The president (Bro. H. H. Gaston) occupied- the chair. • • Moving the adoption of the annua! report, the president said that, although the club finished only in the halfway position in A section of the competition, held under the auspices of the £)tago Cricket League,, the friendly spirit which prevailed in the team during the past season more than compensated for matches' J6pt. • The annual report was adopted. Tha balance sheet, which showed a credit balance, was also adopted. Bro. J. K. Macfie presented a bat to the club, and Bro. John Hope (a prominent vice-president of the club) also gave 15 for the purchase of new material. The president warmly thanked both donors on. behalf of the club. It was decided to enter one team in the competition to be held under the auspices of the Otago Cricket League during the coming season, and the secretary was instructed to apply to that body for affiliation as eafly as possible. The opening date tor the season was set down for October 6.
