THE FLYING SCHOLARSHIP

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I was most interested to read the account in yesterday’s Daily Times of the experiences and sensations of Mr L. Wright when going in for the test for the flying scholarship. I have always maintained, and I do not think it can be denied, that New Zealand is not at all air-minded. In this connection may I congratulate you on the great impetus which you have given to flying in this province by your offer of a flying scholarship? The main reason why many wouldbe pilots did not join up was that they did not know how they would react to this form of travel. There is no such difficulty now, however, when, by competing for the scholarship, one secures half an hour's experience.—I am, etc., September 20. Enthusiast.
