“PYGMALION”

SIXTH REPERTORY OFFERING. Is it possible to transform a London flower girl into a “perfect lady’’? Are elegant diction and phonetically sound English all that is required to create, say, a duchess, in the best traditions? The Dunedin Repertory Society’s cast for Bernard Shaw’s well-known play “ Pygmalion ” will answer those questions for all who see the play at His Majesty’s Theatre next week. No trouble and expense have been spared to stage this famous play adequately, and it is expected that the Dunedin public will show its appreciation of the effort. The cast is an excellent one. The part of Eliza Doolittle will be played by Miss Mary Jolly, and Mr Ken Palmer has been allotted that of Henry Higgins, the phonetician. Mr Doolittle, the dustman, has been allotted to Mr John Bowron, and Mi’s Wakefield Holmes will play Mrs Higgins. Misses Elsie M’Penk, Ireuce O’Sullivan, Marion Crow and Kathleen Falconer, Messrs F. J. Gair and Jack Bremner complete the cast The D.I.C. Orchestra under the baton of Mr Charles Martin, Mus.Bac., L.R.A.M., will render the musical programme. The box plans will be opened to-day at the D.I.C.
