A DANGEROUS ROAD
TO THE EDITOR
Sir,—ln to-day’s issue of the Daily Times I noticed a letter underthe above heading, and would crave a little space to make a reply. First, on reading this letter one would gather that there is only one motor cycle in Baldwin street. One wonders why the City Corporation should have to go to the expense of doing up the street for the sake of only one rider. Secondly, I quite agree with the letter from “ Remember the Aged, that motor cycles cannot be made to run as Silently as your correspondent, Mr Still, would like us to believe. The person riding the motor cycle becomes so used to the frightful noise that when he races up the street at midnight,, in low gear, as he would have to do in so steep a street, he hardly realises that he is waking the residents in the _ surrounding neighbourhood’ from their peaceful slumbers. Your correspondent draws attention to the fact that the attitude towards the motor .cyclist is strangely lacking in sympathy, but when one reads a letter in which one person is trying to benefit at the expense of the general ratepayers, then one cannot wonder at sympathy being lacking. In conclusion I can only say that I thoroughly endorse all the remarks made by your correspondent, “ Remember the Aged.”—l am, etc.. Fond of the Horse.
