BASES IN THE PACIFIC ALASKA A POSSIBLE SITE WASHINGTON, July 25. In response to questions at the Press Conference to-day the Secretary of the Navy (Mr C. A. Swanson) said that Alaska was among the areas which were being considered as a site for the Pacific naval base. He emphasised, however, that no more consideration was being given to Alaska than to any of a dozen other sites. “It is the policy of the navy to consider establishing two operating bases in the Pacific and two in the Atlantic, At the present time ten Martin bombing machines arc in Alaska after a flight from Washington, and a seaplane flotilla is now at Seattle preparatory to a visit to Alaska.
