There were uproarious scenes at the Garrick Theatre recently when the oldtime music hall show being staged there was visited by a party of 80 students from a London hospital. The students, dressed in white coats, arrived in motorcoaches before the performance was due to begin and made their way to the bar. A wager as to the possibility of jumping down a flight of stairs to the landing below in one leap marked the beginning of the uproar. There were numerous acceptors of the challenge and within a few minutes the bar and the stairs became a mass of struggling, shouting, white-coated figures. Glasses and bottles were smashed. The students quietened down before the performance.
