COOK ISLAND ORANGES

DIRECT SHIPMENT TO AUCKLAND. (Special to Daily Times.) AUCKLAND, May 9. The first direct shipment of Gsok Island oranges for the season arrived by the Waikawa to-day. Mr H. Turner, managing director of Messrs Turner and Growers, said that the fruit was one of the best-conditioned direct shipments from the" Cook Islands he had seen. Ail the cases wero carried on leek, and there was not more than 1 per cent, of bad fruit, whereas in the past with the fruit carried in the holds of vessels it had not been uncommon for 40 per cent, to be bad on arrival. The present shipment comprises 7500 cases.
