DISPUTE AT LYTTELTON UNEMPLOYED REFUSE WORK. KPeb United Press association.) CHRISTCHURCH, May 9. Further labour troubles were experienced on the Lyttelton waterfront to-day, when a large section of the unemployed, who have been engaged on several ships, refused to accept further engagement unless the employers agreed to pay them standing-by time from 8 o’clock this morning until 11 o’clock, on the same conditions as the watersiders. during the period that rain held up work. It was considered by the employers that, in accordance with the agreement, the men were discharged last night, and if they wanted work they would have to be re-eiigaged this mnrirng They therefor*refused the demand The men refused work, and delays to several ships seem inevitable, as much labour is required this week.
