A CURIOUS THEFT
LEAD FLUSHING FROM ROOF DISCOVERED THROUGH LEAK. (Teb United Press Association.* AUCKLAND, May 7. One of the most mysterious thefts committed in Auckland, that of between five and six hundredweight of lead flushing from the roof of Campbell House, a large city building, is engaging the attention of the police. The theft was discovered when two plumbers were sent to inspect the roof following a severe leak that resulted in part of the Peter Pan Cabaret on the top floor of the building being flooded to a depth of about a quarter of an inch. The missing lead is valued at between £2O and £3O. All the lead flushing along the western side of the roof was torn away.
