DIRIGIBLE TEST
WITH AMERICAN FLEET MANCEUVRES AT SEA (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) NEW YORK, May 6. A United Press Association copyright message from the Washington Despatch states that the Macon, which since the destruction of the Akron has been out of commission at Los Angeles, and which is the only navy dirigible in active service, is now manccuvring with the main battle fleet in the Caribbean Sea on test, the results of which will have an important bearing on the forthcoming decision whether to continue or abandon dirigible construction. It is learned authoritatively that despite official attempts to minimise the incident, the Macon was affected by structural difficulties in the recent transcontinental flight from California. She sheared two girders, necessitating repairs. The dirigible also experienced difficulties with climatic changes, affecting the helium gas.
