ST. KILDA QUEEN CARNIVAL
Entertainments of various kinds are being organised by the committees of the respective queens in connection with the St. Kilda Queen Carnival, and competition promises .to be keen. A dance, which was held in the interests of the Sports Queen (Miss R. Barton) was attended by over 40 couples, and everyone present spent a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Among the visitors were the Surf Queen (Miss C. Idour) and the Municipal Queen (Miss S. Quirk), as well as Messrs L. D. Martin, M'Kay and Tonkinson, who are present in Dunedin with the famous Australian pacer Walla Walla. Messrs J. W. Dove and W. Sellar thanked those who were doing such work on behalf of the Sports Queen. Mr Martin, jn responding to the warm welcome extended to him, wished the movement every success, and expressed the hope that the Sports Queen’s flag would be found at the top when the competition closed next month.
The euchre evenings held each Wednesday by the committee and supporters of the Municipal Queen (Miss Quirk) at the Bungalow, St. Kilda, are proving highly popular. The Commercial Travellers’ Entertainers are also arranging a concert in support of this queen.
