BALCLUTHA DISTRICT NEWS (Feom Oue Own Correspondent.) BALCLUTHA, March 15. RUGBY FOOTBALL. There was a good, attendance at the annual meeting of the Clctha Football Club last night. Mr E. Michie occupied the chair, f , , The balance sheet showed that last year’s debit b lance of £l3 had been converted into a credit balance of,, £2l 7s 4d, which was deemed highly satisfactory. The selection of office-bearers resulted as follows: —President, Mr J. H. Guest; vice-presidents—Messrs G. IT. M’Peeters, A. R. Dreaver, and J. P. Lyall; secretary, Mr G. H. Mitchell, Mr T. Irving declining re-election; committee —Messrs A. Hurring, V. Stephens, N. Hislop, T. Gold, W. Henderson, W. Cunliffe; delegates to sub-union, Messrs Lyall and J. Cameron; club captain, D. M’Feeters; playing captain, T. Gold; selectors—E. Michie, N. Hislop, and T. Gold. It was decided to join up with the sub-union’s accident insurance scheme. The opening day was fixed for April 7. PERSONAL. The Rev. Leslie Groves has been appointed curate to the Bishop-elect of Dunedin (Ven. Archdeacon , Fitchett), and will leave Balclutha shortly. During the four years he has been vicar in Balclutha, Mr Groves has made a host of friends, who will be pleased to learn of his advancement.
