NEW CRIMINAL CODE
NANKING GOVERNMENT DECREE NO MORE DECAPITATIONS. SHANGHAI, December 13. Decapitation, like many other ancient customs, will shortly he abolished under a Government decree, according to a Nanking announcement heralding the introduction of a new criminal code providing for electrocution as a substitute for the death penalty, except for prisoners convicted of banditry, who will face firing squads, and other of kidnapping, who will be strangled.
