WOMEN’S DIVISION N.Z. FARMERS’ UNION

The last meeting of the year of the Ettrick branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union took place on the afternoon of December 8, when the members entertained the children of the distict at a party. The day was perfect, and some 40 children with parents and friends attended. Games and races were entered into wholeheartedly. Tea in the open, the distribution of prizes to the winners, gifts, and a bag of sweets for all, concluded a happy afternoon. A baking competition was held on the same afternoon. Mrs Todd was first, and Mrs Kelly second for sponge cake; Mrs V, Norman first for scones, and Mrs Y. Norman first for pikelets. The thanks of the branch were due to 'Miss Beeby, who kindly judged the entries.
