AMERICAN HOTELS
BARS NOT PATRONISED PRIVATE DRINKING FAVOURED. •/ ■ - CHICAGO, December 13. (Received Dec. 13, at 11.30 p.m.) A Sun correspondent says: “ Although > the nation is partaking of repeal in no uncertain manner the managers of great hotels find a notable change from old ‘ habits and the revived bars are not patronised in the old time way. Moneyed , visitors learned to drink privately in their rooms during the prohibition era and continued that custom for 14 years. Sneak drinking in the bathroom and,, •* “ hip liquor ” have left their mark on the nation, and it is a question whether , this generation of Americans can .ever come to drink naturally.”
