THE MINING ACT
AMENDING LEGISLATION (From Odr Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, December 13. Before the close of the session the Minister of Mines (Mr C. E. Macmillan) intends to introduce into Parliament a Bill to amend the Mining Act, The Bill will deal principally with areas that may be held under prospecting licenses and other mining privileges, and with the qualifications of mine managers. It is intended to enlarge the areas that may at present be held. The Bill will also give powers of entry on land for the purpose of geological and geophysical surveys. It is understood that the Government does not intend to proceed further than the first rending of the measure. This will enable it to be printed and made available to interested parties, whose views will be ascertained before it is brought forward again next session.
