March 29-April 3.—Dunedin Easter tournament. _ ■■■, March 29-April 3.—North Otago Easter tournament. With the mercury touching close on SOdeg in the shade on Saturday the hottest day of the season—bowlers were favoured with ideal for the continuation of the Interclub Championship games, but many were troubled with the keenness of the surfaces. The conditions, however, were all in favour of giving players much-needed practice in view of the near approach of the big Dominion tournament which will be commenced in Dunedin on January 8. By suffering defeat in two .sections out of four Kaikorai slipped. back a notch, and now takes second place to Outram, which heads the list with 48 points. Kaikorai’s total is 44, and then follow St. Clair and Taiferi with 42 points each, and Caledonian with 40 4-5. Caledonian did well in, winning four sections out of five against Dunedin. The following clubs secured the maximum points (12): —Outram, St. Clair, Taieri, Balmacewen, Waikouaiti, and Fairfield. It is interesting to note that each of the one-section clubs in the competition—Outram, Fairfield, and Waikouaiti—secured full points. rhe iollowirig table shows the positions of the various clubs in the competition ana the total points scored to date:

DOMINION TOURNAMENT The entries for the- big Dominion tournament to be played here next month must, considering the times,* be voted very satisfactory. ,’Sinde the list was published oh Tuesday morning a few late entries have arrived and the full list is now as, follows, with the figures for the tournament held in Wellington a year ago being given in parentheses;—Singles 168 (172), Pairs 180 (152), Rinks 98 (100). CHRISTMAS TOURNAMENT Bowlers are reminded that entries for the Christmas Pairs close to-morrow, night at 5 o’clock. AFTERNOON TEA ON THE GREEN An old-bowler considers he has made a great discovery. It has long been noticed that after the tea adjournment, which is usually in the middle of the game, some teams go all to pieces, and score very little for the rest of the game. The old gentleman says that if only a cup of tea and a biscuit were taken there would not be so many collapses, but when some of the bowlers go .in for cheese and sandwiches, as well as - jam roll and pastry, when it is provided' by the clubs where the wives of the members are the caterers, it effects their digestion and incidentally their eyesight. The result is that; they cannot judge distances so well.' . Lawn tennis ■ players are careful of their food before a match, and bowlers have something to learn from the tennis people, more especially about eating in the middle of a game. The veteran said he did not want mature bowlers to commence slimming, but to have a good feed after the game was over.

SOUTHLAND CENTRE’S TOURNEY The Southland Centre’s New Year tourney will be commenced with , the Singles on Saturday, December 30, followed by the Rinks on New Year’s Day and the Pairs the following day. In the Singles, which is played in sections of four, ■ each player is guaranteed three games of 21 heads, each (time limit one hour 10 s minutee). In the Rinks,, four games (and no end rinks) are guaranteed (18 heads; time limit, one hour 50 minutes), and in the Pairs at least four games (l'B heads; time limit, one hour 30 minutes). Many Dunedin players make an annual pilgrimage to Invercargill for the southern centre’s, .tourney, and it is safe to say that none ever regret having made the trip. The tournament officials leave absolutely nothing undone, to ensure the enjoyment of visiting bowlerp—in fact, they have got the business of catering for the visitors down to a fine art. It is unfortunate that the date of the New Zealand tournament follows so closely on the heels of that of the southern centre, as it is apt to affect the entries for the latter to some slight extent. At least one rink from the Dunedin' Club will go south at New Year—G. Beecroft, J. Doolan, W. Easton, and W;. Anderson.
