RUGBY FOOTBALL
SOUTH TUAPEKA SUB-UNION. A meeting of the South Tuapeka Subunion was held on. Saturday evening, Dr W. Sutherland presiding. The Ettrick Club wrote stating that a Teachers' Cup had been secured to be competed for by the winners of the championships in the Tuapeka and South Tuapeka Sub-unions.—lt was resolved to notify the Ettrick Club that the matter must' be dealt with through the Tuapeka Sub-union. The following transfers were granted:— F. Milne. Tapanui to Beaumont; S. Groggan, Kiwi, P.eefton, to Lawrence; J. A. Breen, Alhambra to Lawrence. Tt was resolved to close the Elag Competition, and declare Tuapeka Mouth the winners. It was decided to write thanking the Taieri Plains Sub-union for its hospitality to the South Tuapeka team on the occasion of the recent match played at Henley. On the motion of Messrs Ryan and Batchelor it was resolved to wxite to the Otago Rugby Uniou asking it to send the Junior representative team to Lawrence to play the South Tuapeka Subunion on August 19 or 26. The following are the matches arranged for the Dewar's Cup knock-out competition:—Beaumont v. Lawrence, at Beaumont: Tuapeka Mouth' v. Waitahuna, at Tuapeka Mouth. The final match is to be played in Lawrence on August 12. and Mr A. T. Sineock is to be the referee.
