(From Our Own Correspondknt.) WANAKA, July 31. THE WEATHER. After a long period of calm, frosty weather it commenced to blow strongly from the north-east on Saturday. A light shower has since fallen, and the weather looks threatening. GOLF. A medal match was played on Saturday in conjunction with the third qualifying round for the championships. Anderson, sen., M. Thompson, and A. M'Laren. SCHOOL COMPETITIONS. The Cromwell School pupils met the Pembroke scholars in football and basket ball matches on Friday afternoon. The Cromwell girls defeated the local girls at basket ball by 17 goals to 4, and the Cromwell boys won the football match by 3 points to nil. FISH HATCHERY. The Upper Clutha Anglers' Association has stripped half a million brown trout ova since the commencement of operations this season. The eggs are in good condition and .should hatch out well.
