(From Our Own Correspondent.) CROMWELL, July 31. RUGBY FOOTBALL. With the country representatives playing in Dunedin on Saturday, no flag matches were played in Vincent County. Cromwell and Baimockburn senior played a game at Cromwell as a benefit to injured players. Cromwell were without several of their leading players, and Bannockburn won after a ragged exhibition by six points to nil. In a curtainraiser, a seven-a-sidc schoolboys' game of two 20-minute spells, Cromwell won by 10 points to G. RAILWAY RIFLE CLUB. The first competition to count for a trophy presented by Mr D. Cahill was fired by the Railway Rifle Club this week. Scores on the target were well up to recent averages, W. Vcint, with 79, taking the gold button. The silver button was won by K. Lomax. THE WEATHER. There was a change during the last two days to spring-like conditions. A heavy north wind raged on Sunday, and during the night rain fell at intervals. It is std'. stormy and unsettled. A remarkable feature of the season is the apparent early growth on pastures.
