Joe-Sing pleaded guilty to-day to permitting his premises- to be used for the smoking of opium, wilfully obstructing a senior sergeant in the execution of his duty, and being found unlawfully in the possession of prepared opium. On the first charge he was fined £SO, on the second £lO, and the third was withdrawn. The default was three months' imprisonment. Ah Lum was fined £ls, in default two months, for being found unlawfully on premises used for the purpose of smoking opium. A large, quantity of prepared opium and paraphernalia was confiscated. The premises were raided on Friday. They were strongly barricaded, and had to be forced after the police had received no answer to a demand for admission.
