Despite a cold night, last Tuesday saw a record attendance at Miller'a Flat, when the branch attended a splendid demonstration given by two of the Home Scienqe girls—Miss H. Johnson and Miss M. Fogo—on the many ways to cook potatoes. The girls, well equipped and full of cooking knowledge, entertained the members and several friends and visitors for two hours, cooking and preparing many potato dishes, which were sampled by all. The majority of members were positive in saying that it was one of the finest demonstrations yet received from the Home Science Extension. A lucky cup was won by Mrs Hainsworth, the Ettrick president, who had brought with her several Ettrick members to enjoy a pleasant evening's programme. During the month two boys from this district attended the Young Farmers' Educational School in Dunedin, these being C. Tainblvn (Island Block) and A. Moir (Teviot). A floral tribute and letter of sympathy was sent by the Miller's Flat branch to Mr E. Hughes on the death of his wife, Mrs Hughes being one of the branch's ex-members.

The Otago members of the Women s Division who wore associated with the Farmers' Uniou in sending young farmers to the educational course which has just closed and which was organised by Mr A. (!. CiunerOn will be gratified to learn that the course has been an all-round success. The young farmers were very enthusiastic about every session, the speakers eulogistic, and the hostesses pleased, with the manner and behaviour of their gueste.
