A SPECTACULAR FIRE

TWO-STOREYED HOUSE DESTROYED

OCCUPANTS’ HURRIED ESCAPE d’Eii United Press Association.) WELLINGTON; June 16. A spectacular fire which resulted in the destruction of a two-storeyed house at No. 1 Coromandel street occurred this morning. The five occupants—three adults and two children—escaped in their night attire. No furniture or, personal effects were saved from the building owing to the rapid progress' which the flames made when the outbreak was discovered. Two canaries and a dog-were the only possessions the occupants, Mr and Mrs Larsen, were able to take with them from the burning house. Special precautions were taken to prevent the Ewart Hospital from catching alight. The 'patients, although only 40 or 50’yards away from the fire, shoved no alarm, and no damage was done to the hospital buildings.
