GENERAL SMUTS AS MEDIATOR IMMEDIATE SUCCESS UNLIKELY. LONDON, June 16. (Received June 16, at 7 p.m.) The Daily Telegraph’s political correspondent says that General Smuts is interesting himself in the Anglo-Irish dispute by interviewing the Free Stat. and British leaders with a view to a resumption of formal conversations, but it is doubtful (whether Mr de Valera is prepared to engage in negotiations at present.
