NELSON TROTTING CLUB WARESS WINS CHIEF EVENT. (Per United Press Association.) GREYMOUTH. June 10, The Nelson Trotting Club’s annual meeting was opened at Greymouth to-day in beautiful weather, before a fair attendance. The track was good, but hard. The totalisator handled £5997, compared with £1977 when on only one day at Nelson on April 21. Following the running of the Richmond Handicap the owner of War Officer, the favourite, waited on the stipendiary steward, asking him to look into hid running. It was found that the hobbles had been altered to one inch and a-balf longer. The owner-trainer produced sufficient evidence to secure complete exonoration.
