RESCUE FROM DROWNING
NURSES’ PLUCKY ACTION. (Per United Press Association.) GREYMOUTH, June 15,
Making good his escape from the Greymouth Hospital on Monday, a mental inmate, headed for the lagoon at the rear of the hospital and plunged into the water, evidently intending to commit suicide. He would have achieved his object but for the courageous action of Sister A. N. Becker and Nurse G. B. O’Connor, who followed immediately and with difficulty rescued the man.
Dr Bird and Dr Bennct, honorary medical officers, reported the action of the nurses to the board, expressing appreciation of their plucky act, whicb wag the subject of a laudatory resolution at the meeting of the board to-night.
