UNEMPLOYMENT: AN APPEAL
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —To the residents of Roalyn, Maori Hill, Kaikorai, and Wakari, I earnestly appeal for such assistance as they can give in order that we may be able _to meet as far as possible the many pressing claims of relief workers and other necessitous cases in these districts. We are faced with an ever increasing demand for men’s coats, overcoats, suits, and fchildren’s clothing. Also for mattresses and blankets, as well as material, new or old, for making into children's garments by the Ladies’ Sewing Guilds. •From a more or less intimate knowledge of the circumstances of over 200 families. I regret to say that the needs of the hoiir are urgent and can only be met by a generous response on the part of those who are willing and able to help. Large numbers receive some assistance weekly by means of the pound a week scheme, but here, too, increased support is urgently reeded, . Donations in money or in kind would be gladly welcomed by Mrs Falconer, Ashburn Hall, Mr J. H. Matheson, City road, or the undersigned.—l am, etc., J. Moir, Chairman, District 8, 5 Littlebourne crescent.
