DRUIDISM. The installation meeting of Waimate Lodge was held on June 7. P.D.P. Bro. Mumford occupied the chair in the absence of the arch Druid (Bro. J. H. Lock), who arrived later on in the evening. The bards reported two brothers on the sick list, and £3 10s sick pay was passed for payment. Other accounts amounting to £l4 9s 4d were also passed. One new member was balloted for, afterwards being initiated. P.A. Bro. A. J. Blackmore gave the arch Druid’s charge. The balance sheet and auditor’s report was read and adopted. It showed that the lodge was making steady progress, and the amount of interest earned on its investments more than met the amount of sick pay , paid out during the six months. P.D.P. Bro. Mumford gave a report of the lodge visit to Endeavour Lodge, Oamani, when, 23 brothers made the journey. P.A. Bro. Blackmore gave a report of the last meeting of the Friendly Societies’ Council. The district president, Bro. M'Gone, assisted by P.D.P. Bro. J, J. Mumford, installed the officers to their respective chairs for the ensuing six months. Afterwards the officers thanked the members of the lodge for the confidence placed in them.
On the motion of Bro. Batchelor, a hearty vote of thanks was passed to the installing officers, which was carried by acclamation. Five new members were proposed. The arch druids of Timaru Lodge and Endeavour Lodge,, and the superintendent of the Timaru Juvenile Lodge, thanked the lodge for the cordial manner in which they had been received.
