The smallest “ city ” in the world is The City, Christian Malford, near Chippenham. Wiltshire. It was built 300 years ago, and consists only of two thatched cottages. A disused canal runs in front of “ The City,” a railway runs at the back, but the trains never stop because there is no station. How “ The City ” got its name is unknown. Half of “The City” is occupied by a widow, whose husband lived there for 87 years. His father owned the cottage for 92 years, and his grandfather lived in it for 97 years. The nearest village is two miles away.
