VISITOR FROM THE ANTARCTIC
SEAL ON PETONE ROAD (Peb United Peess Association.!. WELLINGTON, June 15. Passengers on a bus to-day were surprised to see in the middle of the road at Petone near the pipe bridge a fully grown seal. The polar visitor was seven feet long and was white in colour. While the bus passengers watched the unusual spectacle the seal with a few guttural barks crawled under the wire fence and clumsily made its way across a paddock, finally plunging into the muddy Hutt River. Later in the day the seal was discovered near the Shandon golf links. It was secured and transported to the Wellington Zoo by an official who considers it must have made it way from the Antarctic. It is in good condition but is suffering from a bad cold.
