THE STRATH-TAIERI SHOW
TO THE EDITOR Sir, —I read with interest the remarks of “ Cambria ” in his letter in your issue of April 21 concerning the hackney section of the Strath-Taieri Show, and in view of the nature of the remarks, I have awaited with- interest a reply from the judge of the section concerned. It seems, however, that the judge either cannot or will not defend himself.
I may state that the judge’s statement has caused quite a lot of comment in the district amongst those connected with horses and horse breeding, and those with whom I have discussed the matter consider that an explanation should be forthcoming from the judge. If the latter is unable to show us a solid foundation for his strictures, surely an apology is due to the exhibitors in the section concerned. If Mr Law still declines to furnish an explanation, then it behoves the Strath-Taieri A. and P. Society to elect its future judges from men who are prepared to prove any statements they may make regarding the exhibits. — I am, etc. Commentator. Sutton, April 27.
