COLLISION WITH GRAIN LORRY PASSENGERS ESCAPE WITH SHAKING. (Peb United Press Association.) ASHBURTON, April 28. Striking a lorry laden with grain at the crossing near Ealing at 7 o’clock last night, the engine of the passenger train from Timaru to Ashburton was derailed and the lorry was wrecked. Little damage was done to the engine or the permanent way. The owmer of the lorry (Mr J. C. Guinness) and his companion jumped clear and no carriages were derailed, the 20 passengers escaping with a shaking. A relief train brought them to Ashburton two hours late. The engine was replaced on the line in three and a-half hours.
