TO-DAY’S FOOTBALL

RUGBY. The principal attraction at Cariebrook to-day will be the match between Pirates and Kaikorai, and it is expected that the play will be bright and interesting, .and the scores close. As a curtain-raiser the Third Grade m'atch. High . School v. Kaikorai, will be played. ' On the main ground at Logan Park Southern will meet Alhambra. Southern have a good, all-round team, "and are expected to give a good account of themselves this season. Alhambra did not show up as well as usual last Saturday, but they should improve as the season progresses. At Bishopscourt University B will meet Zingari. Both these teams are capable of playing bright, open football, and a well-contested game should be witnessed. At Tahuna Park University A will meet I'aiefi. University A again have a strong team, but Taieri showed last Saturday that they are a much improved aide.. • ■ Official guides will be on sale as usual. The unemployed will be admitted to Carisbrook by a special gate in Burns street on payment of 3d and presentation of their unemployment book. The Fifth Grade match High School B v. Southern B, which was set down for De Carle Park, will not be played. The Fourth Grade match Southern B v. Zingari B will now be -played on that ground. The Third Grade match, University F v. Taieri will be played at Logan Park No. 3. ■ ASSOCIATION. In the second round of matches in the Fletcher Cup competition two good games have been set down for decision at the Caledonian Ground to-day„ Mornjngtqn will meet Technical Old Boys in the early game, and a keen Contest may be expected, as both teams won their respective matches last Saturday. The meeting of the two country teams, Seacliff and Kaitangata, in the following game is being looked forward to with a great deal of interest. In the past these teams could always be relied upon to serve up good football, and no doubt there will be a good crowd present to welcome the reappearance of. the Ka.itangata players in the competition. This will be their first appearance on a local ground since linking, up again with the association after a lapse of seven .years. Other matches of the round are; Northern v. Port Chalmers, at the Gardens; Maori Hill v. High School Old Boys, at Prospect Park; and the out-of-town match, Mosgiel v. Roslyn-Wakari, at Mosgiel. s
