INAUGURATED BY THE POPE LONDON, April 1., (Received April 2, at C. 20 p.m.) The Pope inaugurated Holy Year with an impressive ceremony. Wearing a white silk mantle and a" golden mitre, he ■was carried in the chair, attended by cardinals, prelates, ambassadors, and ministers, to the holy door of St. Peter's, on which he knocked three times with a golden hammer presented by Catholics from all over the world. The door was opened and the Pope crossed the threshold, the cardinals and bishops following.
