PALMERSTON NOTES
(From Oor Own Correspondent.) ‘ PALMERSTON, March 7. LAWN TENNIS. The Goodwood-Flag Swamp lawn tennis team met a visiting team from Waikouaiti on Saturday, and had 1 a very close and interesting game. Both teams were level in match points prior to Saturday, and Goodwood-Flag Swamp’s win by eight sets (91 games) to eight sets (85 games) will thus place it two points in the lead, but still level with Dunback, which also had a win on Saturday, defeating Shag Point at the latter’s home court. BOWLING. The Singles Championship of the Palmerston Club was decided last night, J. Dennison and A. K. Downie meeting for the second time. Dennison scored four fours and established a good lead, the match ending on the eighteenth head, when Downie had no chance of winning. The score was: Dennison 30, Downie 12. | MAGISTRATE’S COURT. The monthly sitting of the Palmerston Magistrate’s Court was held this morning , before Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M. Thomas Henry Pilbrow, jun., garage proprietor, Inch Valley, was charged with defaulting in the payment bf an instalment of his unemployment levy. - The defendant (who did not appear), but had since paid the lev£, was fined 10s with court costs (12s),
