MINERS TRAPPED
SHALE AND ROCK SLIDE POSSIBILITY OF RESCUE. ILLINOIS, December 24. (Received Dec. 26, at 11 p.m.) Fifty-two miners were trapped by a shale and rock slide in a co-operative mine on Saturday. Mr John Millhousc, director of the State Department of Mines and Minerals, said that if the men were fortunate enough to have barricaded themselves “.they may escape the deadly mine damp and we can get them to safety.”
