The Walnul, which arrived at Wellington on December 22 from Melbourne, via sou-horn ports, Is undergoing survey. She will sail on December 31 for Melbourne direct. The Japanese motor ship Brisbane Maru, has been fixed to call at Manila on January 6, en route from Hongkong to Australia and New Zealand. The vessel is due a. Wcllin*ion on January 31. - ■ ■ WAIKOUAITI FROM AUSTRALIA. The Union Company advises that the Walkouaiti, from Newcastle and Sydney, arrived at Bluff on Saturday. As the vessel was not worked by waterside men, she will not leave Bluff until Wednesday. She Is due at Dunedin on Thursday, and, after discharging general cargo, will go to Tlmaru and Lyttelton to complete ’ discharge. _____ CANADIAN LEADER TO LOAD. The Canadian National steamer Canadian Leader arrived on Saturday evening from Tlmaru, and was berthed at the George street wharf. Port Chalmers. The vessel will load a large consignment of wool and other products. She Is scheduled to sail on December 31 for New York, Boston,, and Halifax. The Canadian Leader, which recently discharged Canadian cargo at Dunedin, loaded products at Bluff, Napier, Wellington, and Tlmaru. NORFOLK LEAVES MONTEVIDEO. The Norfolk, which left Wellington on December 1 for London and west coast ports of the United Kingdom, left Monttcvideo on December 20 In continuation of her voyage.

CARGO FROM AUSTRALIA. The Union Company advises that the Karepo Is to load at Melbourne on December 30, and completes at Adelaide, Edithburg, and Hobart for Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland. She is to clear Hobart on January 7. MOTOR SHIP ASTORIA ARRIVES. The Danish motor ship Astoria arrived on Saturday from Nauru Island, via Lyttelton. She was , berthed at the Bowen wharf, Port, Chalmers, where a part cargo of phosphates will be discharged. The. vessel Is completing a three years’ charter to the Phosphate Commission and has one more trip to make. In-, eluded In her crew are four Australians and two New. Zealanders, one of whom, Mr J. M’Hugh, electrician. Is from the Lake Coleridge district. BENCRUACHAN AT WELLINGTON. The G. H. Scales chartered steamer Bencruachan arrived at Wellington on December 22 from Tolaga Bay to continue loading for Dunkirk, London, and Hull. She is to leave Wellington to-day for Lyttelton, Tlmaru, and Port Chalmers, to complete, and is to clear this port Anally on January 6. THE CITY OF BAGDAD. The New Zealand Shipping Company reports that the City of Bagdad, which left Philadelphia on December 2 and New York on December 18. sailed from Newport News on December 19 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. She is due at Auckland on January 18, and at Dunedin about two weeks later. She will subsequently visit 'Australian ports. KENT FROM FALMOUTH. The Federal Line , steamer Kent sailed from Falmouth on December ‘2l In ballast for New Zealand ports. She is dufi on the' coast about February 8. , - WHISTLING BUOY REPLACED. The Lyttelton Harbour Board has advised the Marine Department that the lighted whistling buoy at Godiey Head has been replaced.

C. AND D. VESSELS TO LOAD. The C. and D. Line advises that the motor ship Port Fairy, at present en route from London to Wellington and Auckland, has been Axed ’to commence Homeward loading during discharge at Auckland on January 18. She will later complete at Napier, Wanganui, and Wellington. The Port Fairy is scheduled to clear Wellington Anally on February 3 for London, via Cape Horn and Dakar. The Port Caroline is due at New Plymouth on January 16 from Australia to commence Homeward loading, and will later complete at Gisborne, Wellington, Bluff, Port Chalmers, and Lyttelton. She Is due at Port; Chalmers about February 3, and Is scheduled to clear Lyttelton Anally on February 8 for London, via Cape Horn and St. Vincent. TARANAKI FROM LIVERPOOL, The Shaw, SaviU, and Albion Company’s motor ship Taranaki arrived at Dunedin on Sunday afternoon from Glasgow and Liverpool, via Capetown, Auckland, Wellington, and Lyttelton. She was berthed at the Victoria wharf, where the local portion of her Home cargo will be discharged. The Taranaki loaded 950 h tons of general merchandise at Glasgow and Liverpool. She sailed from Liverpool on November 2, and called at Capetown on November 19, and, after loading 180 tons of South African produce, the voyage was resumed next day. Foggy weather was experienced during the Arst four days after leaving Capetown and boisterous westerly weather and rough following seas prevailed almost continuously during the remainder of the voyage to Auckland. The average speed from Liverpool to Auckland was 14.2 knots. , . Captain C. Wood Is In command of the Taranaki, and his officers are:—Chief, Mr It. G. Ireland; second, Mr T. Marsden: third, Mr B. M.
