CITY POLICE COURT
Monday, December 26. (Before Mr J. W. Patton, J.P., and Mr T. D. Jamieson, J.P.) DRUNKENNESS. Charged with drunkenness, David Waddell and Angus Mac Kay, statutory first offenders, pleaded guilty.—Waddell was fined 10s and Mac Kay 12s 6d, in default 24 hours’ imprisonment. Two first offenders, who were charged with drunkenness, were convicted and discharged. Minnie Marjorie Oliver, alias Greig, was charged with being found drunk in a public place, having been twice previously convicted of drunkenness within the past six months.-—Sub-inspector Cameron said the accused had a long list of offences against her, and was becoming a nuis-ance.—-The accused was ordered to be detained in custody for seven days. ATTEMPTED BREAKING AND ENTERING CHARGE. John_ Gordon Finch and Courtney Wilfred Higgs were charged with attempting by night to break and enter the warehouse of Meenan and Co. with intent to commit a crime.—A charge against Finch of wilfully breaking a pane of glass in the window of the same building was, on the application of Sub-inspector Cameron, withdrawn. —The sub-inspector said the allegation was that the two youths went into a right-of-way leading to the rear of Meenan and Co.’s premises with the intention of breaking into the building in order to obtain liquor. They were seen by a civilian who accosted and held Finch and handed him over to the police, but the other youth broke away.—The accused were remanded till January 2, bail being allowed to each on his own recognisance of £SO, on condition that they reported daily to the police. ,
