FARMERS’ STRIKE

NO WHEAT-SEEDING NEXT YEAR MORRIN (Alberta), December 17. (Received Dec. 18, at 7.20 p.m.) The proposed wheat-seeding strike was supported here when 100 farmers went on record as favouring no sowing of wheat in 1933. At a meeting of the United States Farmers’ (Alberta District) Association, with farmers from the Morrin, Munson, Roy ley and Big Valley areas attending, several speakers stressed the seriousness of the step, though favouring it. Picketing, they said, would have to be resorted to, even to the extent of destroying the crops of farmers opposing the strike. The resolution was passed enthusiastically, and it was decided to place the question before the annual meeting of the United Farmers of Alberta on January 17 in Calgary.
