GOODWILL BROADCAST
POPULAR AMERICAN STATION GREETINGS TO NEW ZEALAND. (Per United Press Association.l WELLINGTON, December 15. Mr L. B. Wilson, president of the WCKY Radio Station, Covington, Kentucky, United States, has cabled to the Prime Minister (Mr G. W. Forbes) as follows: —“ In response to requests from thousands of listeners in New Zealand WCKY will give a special three-hour goodwill broadcast, starting at midnight on Saturday, December 17, Eastern standard time. The broadcast will bring to New Zealand messages from President Hoover, the President-elect (Mr Franklin Roosevelt), the British Ambassador (Sir Ronald Lindsay), and others. America’s most famous orchestras will broadcast., Our frequency is 1490 kilocycles.” Mr Forbes has cabled to Mr, Wilson the following rtply:—“The people of New Zealand send cordial greetings to the people of the United States, and, with them, sincerely trust that 1933 will bring a substantial improvement in the present world-wide economic conditions. We greatly appreciate the action of WCKY in arranging a goodwill broadcast.” . ,
