MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Otago Land Board was held yesterday, _ and was attended by Messrs N. C. Kensington (chairman), G. Livingstone, J. R. M’Culloch, M. A. Kinney, and D. M'Lennan. The board extended its sincere sympathy to Mr Kensington in the recent death of his wife. APPLICATIONS FOR LAND. W. R; Mackay applied for permission to occupy part section 92, block I, Naseby, area approximately nine acres. —Year to year right to occupy granted at an annual rental of 10s as from December 14. F. W. Holden, of Clyde, applied for a mining district land occupation lease oyer block XXI, town of Clyde, comprising three acres.—Right to occupy from year to year granted at an annual rental of £l. DISPOSAL OF LAND. The commissioner submitted for consideration the question of the disposal of sections 92 to 96, 08, 99, block VII, and section 123, block IX, Leaning Rock S.D., varying in areas from 14a Or 03p to 51a 3r 37p.—Area classified as second-class land. Sections to be offered on renewable lease at the capital values as submitted by the commissioner, section 123 to be weighted with valuation for internal fencing (£3 7s 6d). Question of the disposal of section 01, block IV, Gatlins S.D., 312 a Ir 24p. Area classified as third-class land. Area to be offered for selection on the optional system at a capital value of £IOO, with exemption from rent for four years. Question of the disposal of section 4 block VI, Strath-Taieri S.D., area 22a lr 08p.—Area classified as first-class land. Area to be offered for selection on renewable lease at a capital value of £llO, weighted with valuation for improvements (£l7 ss). Question of the disposal of sections 1 to 18, block I, 1 to 6, and 8 to 14, block 11, town of Makarora, comprising approximately one rood each.—Sections to be offered at auction at an upset of £5 per section. _ ■, The question of the disposal for cash of sections 19-22, block X, 4, 12-15, block XI, 15, block XII, and 9, block XXI, Town of Waikouaiti, each containing 1 rood. —To be offered for sale for cash at upsets as suggested by the field inspector. PERMISSION TO OCCUPY.

Alexander K. Banks applied for permission to occupy lot IG, block 111, Moeraki foreshore at Shag Point (1 rood) at present held in the name of Sydney Burt. —License cancelled and permission granted to occupy area from year to year at an annual rental of 10s.

John Falconer applied for permission to occupy an area of 30 acres (approximately) adjoining Barnego Settlement. — Year to year right to occupy granted at an annual rental of £l, subject to the provision of a right-of-way of two chains at the cast end and of one chain at the west end.

J. 11. MTvcllar applied for permission to occupy an area between section 5, block XLII, and the river, Town of Alexandra, 4 acres approximately, at present held in the name of James Marwood Jackson.—License cancelled and permission granted to occupy the area from year to year at an annual rental of 10s. John Dick applied for permission lo occupy part of section 5. block XVIf, Moeraki Township, approximately \ acre, being portion of land comprised in M.L. at present hold by IT. T. Rchn. — Area and rent of license to lie decreased accordingly, and permission granted to John Dick to occupy the area from year to year at an annual rental to he fixed by the field inspector. John Dick, jnn., applied for permission to occupy section 4. block XVIT, Town of Moeraki. at present bold in the

name of William Dick, area 21 poles.— License cancelled and permission granted to occupy area from year to year at an annual rental of 10s. FOREST FIRE DISTRICT. The conservator of forests, Invercargill, forwarded particulars with regard to the proposed fire district for the protection of a forest plantation on the Waipori River watershed, and requested that the matter be placed before the Land Board for approval.—Approved. CANCELLATION OF LICENSES. William D. M'Kenzie, licensee of section 30a, Tokarahi Settlement (6a 3r), applied to have his license over this area cancelled. —License cancelled as from January 1, 1032. Cecilia M'Kenzie, licensee of section 29a, Tokarahi Settlement (10a), applied to have her license over this area cancelled.—License cancelled as from January 1, 1932. IMPROVEMENT MONEYS. The commissioner submitted the question of the disbursement of improvement moneys, £2O 15s 4d. paid by J. M. Bremner on selection of section 84, block I, Naseby S.D. (101 a Ir 33p).—Payment of £lO to M. Hewitt, £1 15s to B. G. Brown, and £ls to revenue. —Approved. Question of the disbursement of the sura of £6 paid by P. F. Cotter on selection of section 93, block X, Leaning Rock S.D.—Payment of £6 to revenue on account of arrears of rent. —Approved. EXEMPTION FROM RESIDENCE. J. M. Brcmner applied for exemption from the residence conditions of his lease over section 84, block I, Naseby S.D. — Exemption from residence granted during the pleasure of the board. ‘'THIRDS," ETC. The Clutha County Council submitted proposals for the expenditure of “ Thirds,” etc., accrued for the period ended October, 31, 1932, amounting to Cs Sd. — Receiver authorised to pay. Proposals were also received from the Maniototo County Council (£34 17s 7d); the Vincent County Council (£27 13s 6d); the Alexandra Borough Council (5s lOd): the Lake County Council (£5 10s 8d); and the receiver was authorised to pay in each case. , APPLICATION TO FREEHOLD. Douglas Pickering Bayne, who holds section 22, block 11, Clarendon S.D., under O.R.P. 209, area 43a Or 14p, and section 23, block 11, under O.R.P. 514, area 39a lr lip, applied to purchase the freehold of these sections.—Application approved. Charles Henderson, of Taieri Mouth, fisherman, applied for a right to occupy over section 21, block IX, town of Hull, area 13.2 poles.—Right to occupy granted at an annual rental of £l. PERMISSION TO OCCUPY. Mrs M. J. Congalton applied for permission to occupy sections 41 and 42, block XI, Moeraki. 15 acres, at present held under miscellaneous license in the name of Charles Squire (deceased).— License cancelled, and permission gran'e l to occupy area from year to ye,;, at an annual rental of £l. TRANSFERS. Section 18, block XII, of Palmerston, 1 rood, John Harry S. Fisher to Christina M. Gordon. —Approved.
