KELSEY-YARALLA KINDERGARTEN

ANNUAL CLOSING FUNCTION The annual closing function of the Kelsey-Yaralla Kindergarten was presided over by the president of the Free Kindergarten Council (Mrs D. Phillips). In extending a welcome to those present, Mrs Phillips said that the council was grateful to the local committee for practical help and sympathetic interest, which were of great value in the most difficult year yet experienced m this work. It was recognised that the cooperation of mothers and fathers was necessary to make a kindergarten in the true sense of the name; this co-opera-tion brought the home into touch with the school, which was very desirable the loss of the Government grant just 12 months ago meant something like £IOOO a year to them, and if it had not be en for the assistance of the general pub ic and private citizens, not forgetting the wide publicity from the press, it would have been almost impossible for them to continue activities. Finally, the speaker thanked Misses Macdonald and Hethenngton for the work they had carried out among the children. The usual programme of games was presented for the benefit of the many parents and friends present, and presents from the Christmas tree were distributed.
