HOSPITAL BOARD
MONTHLY MEETING The Otago Hospital Board held its monthly meeting last night; present— Messrs W. E. S. Knight (chairman), G. Gallaway, D, M'Lennan, J. W. Dove, J. W. Scurr, A, F. Quelch, H. S. Sheat, Mrs W. Ross, and Miss Runciman. Regret was expressed at the absence, through illness, of Dr Newlands, and the hope was voiced that he would be able to attend the next meeting. MISS FRASER’S DEATH. The following motion was carried, on the motion of the chairman, seconded by Mr Scurr—“ That the Otago Hospital Board wishes to record its sincerest regret upon the death of Miss Isabella Fraser, who occupied the position of matron at the Dunedin Hospital, where she rendered faithful services for a period of 20 years, having resigned therefrom in November, 1910.” RESIGNATION.
Miss Joyce Brownlee wrote resigning her appointment as physical instructress to massage students, as she had been transferred to the Christchurch Training College.—The resignation was accepted with regret.
REMISSION OF ACCOUNTS. The secretary submitted a statement with recommendations for remission of accounts totalling £2356 3s 7d, due for maintenance, etc., in Dunedin, Infectious Diseases, Batchelor, Tuapeka, Tapanui, “Louisa Roberts” (Wakari), and Palmerston Hospitals, Prince Edward Convalescent Home, out-patient, X-ray, other boards, and sundry debtors. —The recommendations were approved.
THE YEAR’S WORK. The chairman thanked members for the time and attention they had given to the board’s work during the year. He also thanked all who had rendered assistance in other ways—those who had made gifts, members of the visiting stall’, the stipendiary staff, the clerical staff, Mr Jacobs (secretary) and his staff, and the press. Air Quclch, on behalf of the members, thanked the chairman for his remarks. The chairman added that the usual function with regard to the distribution of toys would be held in the Hospital at G. 30 pan on Christmas Day. The Fever Hospital and the Batchelor Hospital would be visited on the morning of Christmas Day, and the Talboys Home, the Children’s Convalescent Home, and the Wakari Sanatorium in the afternoon.
