BUCKFAST ABBEY

THE NEW STRUCTURE CONSECRATION CEREMONY. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, August 25. (Received August 26, at 5.5 p.m.) ' The new ‘ Buckfast Abbey, in Devonshire, which has been built of Bath stone by a handful of monks during the past 25 years with their own hands and with out money on the site of the ruin of a former Benedictine abbey, was consecrated to-day by Cardinal Bourne, the papal legate. More than 20 bishops attended the first public service later, altar piece in gold and silver, with rich enamelling and precious stones, was presented to the abbey by the goldsmiths of Aix-la-Chapelle, Germany.
