BRITISH EMPIRE PRODUCTS
A TIMES SUPPLEMENT. (From Ors Own Correspondent.) - LONDON, May 20. A special number of The Times Trade and Engineering Supplement has been printed which covers British Emnire products. Seven Prime Ministers of the Empire contribute messages. Mr G. W. Forbes writes: . “ The Imperial Economic Conference that is to be opened at Ottawa in July will mark an epoch in the history of the British, Commonwealth of Nations. At no time has the necessity for a planned economic system been more pressing, but if the need for action is great it is happily no 'css true that the prospects of success appear more promising than ever before. In the past every attempt to co-ordinate the economic policies of the various members of the British Commonwealth has been frustrated by the fact that the fiscal policy of the principal partner in the Commonwealth has differed radically from that of the others. Recent developments in the United Kingdom, however, have opened up a new road for progress, and New Zealand looks forward to the approaching discussions in the firmest confidence that on this occasion concrete and mutually beneficial results will be achieved.” The subjects dealt with in specially contributed articles cover a very wide field. “ Empire Airways,” “ Marketing Policy,” •“ Co-ordination in Imperial Research,” “ Cable and Wireless Communications,” “ Shipping Services,” are some of the headings. Every part of the Empire has an article devoted to it and to its productions. In the New Zealand section special mention is made of the frozen meat trade jubilee. Beside a number of small photographs adjacent to the letterpress, New Zealand is represented by a full page advertisement dealing with the Dominion from tourists’ and sportsmen’s points of view.
