BALCLUTHA DISTRICT NEWS
(Fhom Our Own Correspondent.) BALCLUTHA, April 22.
There was a good attendance at_ the Balclutha Methodist Church last night, the occasion being the induction of the Rev. F. J. Handy, who was recently appointed minister of the Balclutha-Kai-tangata circuit. The chairman of the Methodist District (the Rev. H. E. Bellhouse) preached the induction address, and tlie Rev. C. H. Kendon, of Milton, offered up the induction prayer, and delivered a helpful address to the congregation. Mr J. H. Guest, as acting chief circuit steward, on behalf of the congregation, heartily welcomed Mr and Mrs Handy. The Rev. Leslie Groves (Anglican), the Rev. Roy Alley (Presbyterian), and Mr E, Hughes, on behalf of the Quarterly Board, also extended a welcome to Mr Handy. Mr Handy, in the course of a brief address, said that although a young man, he had had Id years of service in the church, and be was looking forward to his work in Balclutha. The singing of the Doxology and the pronouncement of the benediction by Mr Bcllhousc brought a very pleasant meeting to a close.
