The Sunday Express says that the British Government intends to give immediate attention to the problem of the growth of London. In the next 10 years, it is estimated, there will he it population of 20,000,000 within it radius of 15 miles of Charing Cross. Evidence is being collected so that plans may be made to cope with industrial, transport, and social problems. Hero are some of the puzzles that have arisen already London is developing more quickly than its feeder transport ; millions of workers live too far from their employment; too much time is wasted in travel; slow traffic is congesting main roads\ and is causing loss of time and moneyelectrification of all suburban traffic is essential, and under ground services must be extended. Sug gestions are made by responsible authorities that these are essential reforms:— The establishment of a controlling bod.\ to supervise the growth of London and the home counties; the building level should be raised in Bondon to the skyscraper standard: satellite towns should he created, with industries established on the ontskirt“
