Farrrell announced on Tuesday that ha will retire from the presidency of the United States Steel Corporation on April iB. . 'The Otago crew which is travelling toWellington to compete in the forthcoming; Sanders Cup contest (Messrs C. Pettit, I. M'Grath, A. Shanks, and R. Reynolds), accompanied by Messrs T. Anderson and W. Hewitt, representing the Otago Yacht and Motor Boat Association, will leave by the through express this morning. At its annual meeting yesterday, the senate of the University of New Zealand approved of the awards of the medical senior scholarship and the Christie prize in applied anatomy respectively to Messrs A. G. Rutter and J. V. Cable, both oef Otago University. Miss Winifred Gardner, F.T.C.L,, L.A.8., who went to England in: April last to further her studies in pianoforte and harmony, has been successful in passing as licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music, London.
